Forward Autumn Sorice offensively dominant for Western Conn.

By Phil ShoreSeptember 1, 2017

Western Connecticut State Athletics

For the second consecutive year, Western Connecticut forward Autumn Sorice (Bethel, Conn.) earned Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Year, but that award does not begin to describe the dominance she displayed in 2016.

Sorice scored 25 goals and added 12 assists for a total of 62 points on the season. Not only did her goal and points totals set new program records (she beat the previous points record set by Catherine Nathans in 2006 by 10 points), she tied for the national lead in goals scored, finished tied for 19th in the nation in total assists and finished third in the nation in total points.

She also scored the lone Western Connecticut goal in their 3-1 loss to Johns Hopkins in the first round of the NCAA tournament, making it the fourth consecutive year the team lost at that stage.
