In 2010, injuries left the New England Revolution with one of the youngest goalkeeper pairings in MLS – Bobby Shuttleworth, 23, and Tim Murray (Haverhill, Mass.), 22. At the time, I noted Shuttleworth and Murray “could have long careers to look forward to” but were destined for reserve status with the imminent return of veteran Matt Reis.

Sure enough, both Shuttleworth and Murray are still in the game and going strong in their early 30s.

While Shuttleworth rose to MLS prominence, becoming the Revolution’s starting ‘keeper from 2013-16 and performing in the 2014 MLS Cup, Murray has progressed mostly under the radar in Finland.
