As the Connecticut high school season nears its end, dozens of players across the Nutmeg State will soon shift their focus to club responsibilities.
For a handful, that means Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) contests with Connecticut FC. After last year's spring/summer seasons were lost to the COVID-19 pandemic, there's also a sense of urgency to return to competition.
That leaves us previewing the ECNL landscape across New England, as starting with Connecticut FC's five older teams. Some have familiar names, while others are just coming onto the regional radar screen.
Health allowing, Connecticut FC hopes its older teams can compete again in early December, though they did recently pull out of the ECNL Florida (Jan. 8-10) showcase event amid pandemic factors. Their first event very well could be the 2021 Jefferson Cup, which is set for March in Virginia.
