LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. -- On a picture-perfect 72-degree January day, ECNL Florida wrapped up competition on Tuesday, after three action-packed days at the sprawling Premier Sports Campus.
For the New England clubs in attendance, it was a quality measuring stick against the nation's best teams, as they ramp up preparation for the coming months. Every team in Florida played three matches over three days.
In the case of the Connecticut FC U-17 squad, they saved their best for last, and will travel home to New England with some winter momentum.
CFC defeated Sporting Blue Valley, 3-1, on Tuesday to earn its lone win of the national showcase, which began Sunday and attracted hundreds of college coaches from across the country. Connecticut FC lost to Kansas City Athletics, 3-0, on Monday, and fell to SLSG Navy, 4-1, on Sunday.
