Post University goalkeeper David Mollenthiel ended up playing a key role in a wildly successful season as the Eagles claimed the regular season and postseason titles in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and won a Division 2 NCAA Tournament match.
Mollenthiel (Danbury, Conn.) just had to overcome several challenges to play his part.
The junior goalkeeper suffered a broken arm in a summer league match and a fractured back while recovering from it. Add in competition from Danish freshman goalkeeper Soren Jensen and senior Jordan Brown of England, and Mollenthiel had to traverse several hurdles to make his mark.
