The number of American players plying their trade in Europe’s top leagues continues to grow, and there’s a former Dartmouth striker in the mix.
Eduvie Ikoba, who spent 2015-18 at the Ivy League program, is halfway through his first season with AS Trenčín, a club in Slovakia’s top flight. To begin his professional career, the Iowa native spent a year at Hungarian club Zalaegerszegi TE before becoming a free agent.
Since joining his new club, the No. 9 has four goals and one assist in 20 appearances across all competitions. They’re currently chasing a spot in next year’s Europa League, making the Fortuna Liga’s championship group as the sixth and final team.
