The hopes of a Division 3 women’s national championship coming to New England rests on the shoulders of two teams.
After a busy weekend, the 64-team NCAA Tournament field has been downsized to 16 remaining sides. Of those programs, MIT and Wesleyan are the only remaining squads from the region, after we started the tourney with 12.
They also happen to reside in the same bracket and would face each other in the quarterfinals on Sunday, if they both win their third round game on Saturday. That would also mean a trip to the national semifinals and Greensboro, N.C. would be on the line in that potential quarterfinal.
Here’s a look at how the New England teams got to this point, and what's ahead.
