Typically, Pennsylvania is not a fruitful recruiting area for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy women’s soccer team.
The Division 3 NEWMAC program, located in New London, Conn., often attracts student-athletes from New England, coastal regions, and the mid-Atlantic, particularly the D.C. area.
Be that as it may, Coast Guard Academy head coach Susan Grant was able to discover a recruiting hotbed in Grantville, Pa., about 15 miles outside of Harrisburg. More specifically, this recruiting trail led to one household and landed the Coast Guard three players.
This past season, the Coast Guard had senior midfielder Molly Huynh, junior midfielder/defender Micki Huynh, and freshman defender Mary Kate Huynh on the team. All three sisters are majoring in marine and environmental science.
