With August coming to a close and the first full week of regular-season soccer in the books, the college soccer season is officially in full swing.

With Ivy League play only starting on Friday, all Division 1 teams in New England have begun their 2018 campaigns. Most programs are playing teams from outside the region, going as far as California to compete and prepare for conference play.

Overall, it was a rough week for local teams, as six of NESJ’s top 10 teams lost twice in that span. Boston College and Providence are the only elite squads around to remain undefeated. We also have our first newcomer of the season, as UMass has looked strong under new head coach Jason Dowiak, previously the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at South Florida.

Without further ado, here's this week’s top 10 teams and players of the week.
