During a normal college soccer season, Division I women’s teams start competing by Aug. 15 or thereabouts. There’s some flexibility around that date, but it provides a rough stake in the ground.
The 2020-21 school year has made the D-I women’s season anything but normal, with only Boston College competing during the Fall ‘20 semester. That left 22 of 23 New England's D-I women's programs sidelined on account of the COVID-19 pandemic.
But teams, with the exception of New England’s four Ivy League programs, are planning to compete again during the Spring ‘21 semester. Some are doing conference-only games, while others have a mix of the two – all building toward the NCAA tournament selection on April 18.
