Twenty-two New England teams started the season in late August. Now three remain.

Leading the trio into the NCAA tournament is Boston College, the ACC program that previously hadn't made the big dance since 2015. It’s been a shaky last month or so for the Eagles, but their at-large bid represents a clean slate.

Not to be forgotten are Boston University and Central Connecticut, who both won their respective conference titles on Sunday to earn an automatic bid. They’ll be underdogs in their first-round matchups, but anything can happen come playoff time.

Let’s take a deeper look at the three local teams hoping to make a run in the NCAA tournament, which starts Thursday.
