D1 Women: Top 10 defenders to watch for in 2019

Ask any college coach if they'd prefer to have their offense or defense sorted in preseason, and odds are most will say the latter.

The logic goes as such: You can figure out how to make an offense click and snag a goal here or there, but it's much harder to form a stingy backline.

Luckily for the below programs, they have some standout defenders who are set to lead the charge in 2019. The below 10 defenders, all returners, come from 10 different programs throughout New England, with five calling the region home.

Let's get right on into things, starting with a Dartmouth junior who should boost the Big Green's Ivy League title hopes.
