As the Division 1 women's soccer season marches on across New England, local players are also turning heads beyond the region.
Spread across all four class years, this collection of 10 players competes for nationally-ranked sides and conference title-chasers. Of those included, six are from Massachusetts, two are from Connecticut and there's one apiece from Rhode Island and Vermont.
Now, a quick qualifier: This story isn't meant to be a ranking or declaration of top-end players. Rather, it's intended to spotlight New England natives shining outside of the six states we call home.
We'll also highlight a few top-end players who have been out for one reason or another: North Carolina freshman forward Ally Sentnor (Hanson, Mass.), Ohio State sophomore midfielder Peyton McNamara (Norwalk, Conn.) and Penn State junior forward Peyton Linnehan (Douglas, Mass.).
