Last year, at least in Division 1 men's college soccer, didn't quite go as many predicted.

Boston College, UConn and Providence College – three programs that typically lead the pack locally – all didn't make the NCAA Tournament. Conversely, two postseason surprises emerged via New Hampshire and UMass, with those respective head coaches rewarded for years-long processes. And steady as ever, Dartmouth won its fourth straight Ivy League title.

But the offseason brought about some change and a complicated D1 men's landscape has emerged throughout the region. To sort through it all, New England Soccer Journal offers its team-by-team preview. Yes, all 21 programs.

During the D1 men's season, NESJ will offer weekly rankings, features, listicles and more. Before then, let's preview the playing field.
