When I first started writing for the New England Soccer Journal back in 2013, the focus on my column was to support the "volunteer coach."
As the years passed, the column focus expanded a bit to cover topics for all coaches at all levels (volunteer, club, high school). Much has changed for me personally and professionally over the course of the last 10 years in the soccer space. Gone are the days where I spent much of my professional time working with volunteer coaches, as well as my days coaching in the club space.
In a span of 10 years, I went from being at our local soccer fields as a coach/director almost on a daily basis, to only visiting them in the fall during my high school coaching role, and when I bring my 9-year-old son to his soccer team practices throughout the year in my role as a parent.
