
The fall 2021 high school soccer season should be a welcome one for players, coaches, referees, parents and athletic programs after working through unprecedented challenges during the past academic year.
Last fall, our region experienced a much different type of season, as the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to play under different rules, protocols and safety precautions. The exact fallout really depended on how individual leagues and schools approached the situation. In some cases, the 2020 fall high school season moved to the spring of 2021. Other teams and leagues decided not to play at all.
The pandemic lingers, but the plan for the fall season hints at a return to normalcy. This approach will see the game played without masks, unless individuals choose to wear them, and see the laws of the game restored in full.
