Slow starts have contributed to the New England Revolution failing to capture the MLS Supporters' Shield since the league’s inception in 1996.
Beginning the year on the road has also been a factor, and the Revolution’s opening day record fell to 5-14-6 last weekend after a 2-1 loss against a Thierry Henry-led Montreal Impact side.
But in recent seasons, the Revolution’s slow starts have also been affected by the absence of key players due to contract or injury problems.
