NEP Boys: Aztec captain Jay Poskitt readies for D3 path

By Jonathan SigalMarch 1, 2018

Each wintry Thursday and Sunday, when the Aztec 1999 Boys NPL team holds practice, Jay Poskitt (Winchester, Mass.) lends one teammate a helpful hand.

Abdoullah Niasse, a holding midfielder and junior at Cambridge High School, takes the train to Alewife Station and bikes to Winchester High School, where Poskitt then drives him to and from training. Niasse’s family, more often than not, is too busy to reach the Essex Sports Center in Middleton, Mass.

"At first I did it as captain, but I’ve really been able to connect with (Abdoullah)," Poskitt said. "He’s a guy from Senegal, so it’s listening to how he’s adapted to life in the U.S. and helping him some with college recruitment. I learn something new every time."
