Should the New England Revolution advance to a Round One matchup in the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs, head coach/sporting director Bruce Arena will need to outmaneuver Montreal Impact head coach Thierry Henry in Friday night’s Play-In Round game (6:30 pm ET).
Arena’s already managed that three times this season, with New England holding a 3W-1L-0D record against the Impact. That fuels the Revolution (No. 8 seed) being favored against Montreal (No. 9 seed) at Gillette Stadium, but Arena knows it won't be a walk in the park.
Rather, the 69-year-old has immense respect for what Henry has accomplished during his first year with the Impact, ending a three-year playoff skid for the Eastern Conference side.
