The COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on prep school soccer in New England manifests in myriad ways, with Maine-based Bridgton Academy providing a perfect example.
The all-boys school relies solely on postgraduate students, players who are seeking an extra year of physical, personal and academic growth before embarking on college soccer.
Some, like incoming goalkeeper Liam Egan (Notre Dame commit), already have their collegiate future sorted. But for the vast majority, like former Bruno United and New England Revolution Academy defender Patrick Pires (Pawtucket, R.I.), the experience offers a true launching pad as their soccer journey continues.
