As Division 3 men's soccer returns to New England, it's time to start prospecting who top players could be.

Right off the jump, we'll note that this exercise is based on past successes. That's what we have to inform opinions since it's been 20-plus months since these programs last competed on the field – a prolonged waiting period where the COVID-19 pandemic halted the 2020 campaign before it got underway.

But with the abundance of talent across the region's D-3 landscape, there's ample talent to paint a picture of who could lead the way – both individually and collectively.

New England Soccer Journal's preseason Best XI is arranged in a 4-3-3 formation. It features returners who competed during the 2019 season, and we've also tacked on a few players who were "on the bubble."
