When Paul Melitsanopoulos, director of Beachside’s Development Academy, talks about the Silva brothers, one theme comes to mind.
“I think of kids who are hardworking, have great work ethic and are just very, very humble and motivated individuals,” Melitsanopoulos said. “They’re blue-collar in their approach and willing to do the work. That’s something we value at Beachside.”
They’re high remarks for two pillars of the Connecticut-based club, with Sergio a mainstay on the U-17s and Arthur a critical part of the U-19s. They both play holding midfield, have roots in Bethel, Conn. and have Division 1 soccer aspirations.
Arthur is committed to UConn, a perennial top-25 program, where he’ll join up next fall with his cousin Austin DaSilva, who just wrapped up his freshman year with the Huskies. Sergio, meanwhile, hopes to stay on the east coast and has a list of around 30 schools he’s interested in.
