As Jon Paul Fernandez's senior year wound down, he wanted to push for more in the college recruiting process.
He'd long developed at Beachside, and a fair deal of Division 3 interest came. Conversations with Ivy League programs fizzled out, too, for the midfielder from Stamford, Conn.
Fernandez, 18, wanted to play Division 1.
