Bayside FC U-17 peaks in prime time, wins National Cup

By Nick FrazierAugust 11, 2021

Bayside FC’s U-17 team topped Honolulu Bulls to reel in the National Cup title.

The night before Bayside FC’s U-17 National Cup finals match, coach Steve Froberg asked his players for their thoughts on how to attack their opponent, the Honolulu Bulls.

Bayside had faced the Bulls in the premier division’s group stage a few days earlier, overcoming a two-goal deficit to win, 3-2.

One suggestion from the boys was to tweak their corner kicks and place one of their bigger players, Dan Goba, in front of Honolulu’s goalkeeper. Sure enough, Bayside scored on a corner just seven minutes into the finals match, with Goba’s height impacting the keeper’s reaction time.
