FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Whenever Justin Rennicks (South Hamilton, Mass.) plays, he’s confident in his ability to read the flow of a match and make a difference.
So when the U.S. U-20 national team trailed France, 2-1, late in a FIFA U-20 World Cup Round of 16 game, he faced a tall task. Rennicks, subbed in by head coach Tab Ramos in the 63rd minute, stepped up to the occasion.
The New England Revolution forward and Homegrown Player capped a comeback that also saw Sebastian Soto score, tapping home a rebound after a Sergino Dest long-range blast to make it 3-2 in the 83rd minute. Shortly after, the U.S. knocked off France to reach the quarterfinals for the third straight U-20 World Cup.
