Analysis: Rhode Island shocks Boston College, makes program history

In a series stretching back to 1992, Rhode Island entered the weekend with zero wins in program history against Boston College.

That all changed on Sunday afternoon, as the Rams beat the ACC program 3-2 behind a 93rd-minute golden goal from sophomore forward Brooke Cavino (Bridgewater, Mass.), who’s battled injuries the last two years.

The road victory moved URI to 1W-5L-2D during the spring season, while BC's record dropped to an uncharacteristic 1W-9L-0L stretching back to last fall’s ACC slate. This wasn’t necessarily a David vs. Goliath-esque result, but the programs are traditionally on different planes in Division I women’s soccer – at least on paper.
