Maddy Theriault scored 143 goals during her scholastic career at Palmer (Mass.) High School, including an astonishing 61 in 24 matches her senior year.
In western Massachusetts, Theriault dominated the competition. But was she a big fish in a small pond, someone who might be unable to cut it in the vast ocean of Division 1 women’s college soccer?
Well, Theriault more than cut it in her first season at Fairfield in 2022. She tallied a team-high eight goals in 18 games for Fairfield, which went 14-4 and won the MAAC regular-season title. Theriault was named MAAC Rookie of the Year for her efforts and was also an All-MAAC First Team selection.
