During her soccer playing career, Julie Hubbard tore her ACL four different times.
Anyone remotely familiar with sports injuries has undoubtedly heard of this significant setback. A tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the knee often requires a recovery period of up to nine months. It is also more common for female athletes than male athletes.
Hubbard, a native of Westerly, Pa., was a college standout at Penn State and then UConn, and served as an assistant coach for the Acton-Boxborough (Mass.) High School girls soccer team last fall, under head coach Ru Sweeney.
