Perhaps the most intriguing competition on this spring's college soccer calendar comes to its conclusion this weekend.
It’ll be Division 1 Quinnipiac vs. Post, a Division 2 program, in the championship match of the inaugural Connecticut Spring College Cup on Sunday (2:30 p.m.) at QU.
The first-year event saw six men’s college soccer programs from Division 1 or 2 compete for state bragging rights for the past five weeks. Each team played four matches.
Post led the way by going 3-0-1 with an impressive 12 goals scored. Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart both went 2-1-1, but it was the Bobcats getting a penalty kicks victory over SHU that proved to be the difference. Quinnipiac also had a goal differential of seven, while SHU’s was -1.
